What people ask

How do I check whether a contractor is licensed?

Search the business name or licence number above to open its record. Every record shows the licence number, classification and registration dates exactly as they appear in the state file, along with a link to verify the same record directly with the issuing agency.

Where does this data come from?

Washington registrations come from the Department of Labor & Industries; Oregon licences come from the Construction Contractors Board. The Washington snapshot on this site is from July 2026. Records can change after a snapshot is taken, so confirm current status with the agency before you hire.

What does this directory not cover?

Only the registration fields the agencies publish. It carries no bond status, insurance, citations, lawsuits or workers' compensation data. Those records exist at the agencies and elsewhere, and a record here is not a statement that none exist.

Why does a record say expired?

The expiry date in the state file has passed. That is not a finding of wrongdoing — most often the renewal simply is not reflected in the snapshot yet. Check the agency record for current status.

How is this different from the Better Business Bureau?

The BBB rates businesses that pay for accreditation. Nothing here is rated, ranked or purchasable. This is a copy of a public licence file, and every business the agencies register appears whether or not they have ever heard of us.

Is it free to search or to claim a listing?

Both are free. A licence holder can claim their record and add a description, hours and photos; the state fields themselves are never editable, and submitted content is reviewed before it appears.
